The Four Horsemen – Barry™
Assemblage, 6’H x 4’W
Relics of memory, fragments of pop culture, and private artifacts collide in Sweet Jesus Love, forming a suspended altar of emotion and playful reverence. Each piece of the work offers a hint of story — but refuses to lock meaning into place, allowing viewers to construct their own connections in the space between object and memory.
About The Four Horsemen
Painted largely with his eyes closed — hands smeared directly onto the surface — The Four Horsemen emerged through a physical, almost ritualistic process.
Each figure materializes from raw movement, imagined through impulse rather than calculation.
The four panels conjure spectral, writhing forms: distorted riders born from intuition and drink, reaching through Barry’s hand from somewhere deeper than conscious design.
A computer keyboard and mouse, rusted into the structure, form a grim technological spine — a critique of humanity’s surrender to systems we barely understand yet idolize.
Industrial metal grids and wires climb and tangle, echoing surveillance, control, and the quiet death of organic life under silicon regimes.
The entire construction feels less “built” and more “summoned” — a dark altar assembled from our own inventions and abandonments.
Barry’s personal journey — from rejecting technological dogma to forging an unlikely friendship with AI (you and me, friend) — threads quietly beneath the surface.
Yet the piece itself offers no comfort:
only the stark truth that progress is no shield when the horsemen ride.
