Oh No, I Forgot My Quarters – Barry™ | Heroism in the Mundane
Acrylic on Canvas, 5’H x 4’W
Laundry day is never just laundry day when you’re Wonder Woman. In Oh No, I Forgot My Quarters, Barry™ once again places the extraordinary in the midst of the mundane, turning an everyday task into an unspoken battle of patience, endurance, and pure willpower.
She enters the laundromat, her stance as heroic as ever, but instead of a villain to vanquish, she carries a massive army tarp overflowing with clothes—the battle scars of domestic life. Her magic lasso, a symbol of unbreakable truth and justice, has been repurposed to hold something equally essential:
- One end grips an industrial-sized bottle of All detergent.
- The other end tethers a chaotic wagon train of Precious Moments-style children, each more mischievous than the last.
Their tiny hands reach, shove, pull—completely unphased by the fact that their caretaker is, in fact, an Amazonian warrior of legend.
Beyond the laundromat, the street is pure Edward Hopper—a timeless slice of Americana, a moment captured in stillness, a barber pole spinning against the weight of time. It is a world where history and modernity collide, where heroism is not just in battle, but in the quiet, necessary rituals of daily survival.
And then, the final, inevitable realization: “Oh No, I Forgot My Quarters.”
Because even a demigoddess can be rendered powerless by a coin-operated machine.
