Mixed media assemblage resembling a fragile house frame, with worn pans, broken abacus, ghostly portraits, and salvaged wood suggesting survival and domestic fragility.

Fragile Keep Up – Barry™

Assemblage, 3’H x 7’W

In Fragile Keep Up, Barry constructs a raw, poignant meditation on survival —
where domestic symbols, fading memories, and tenuous structures combine to reflect the absurd fragility of modern existence.
It’s a house barely held together, a life measured out in broken tools and ghosted faces, suspended somewhere between collapse and stubborn endurance.

About Fragile Keep Up

Built from battered wood, worn metal, and salvaged imagery,
Fragile Keep Up invites viewers into a structure at once recognizable and unsettling.

  • A skeletal frame — part house, part gallows — leans precariously overhead, bearing the weight of daily survival.

  • Red, battered cooking pans dangle like half-forgotten trophies, domestic relics that once nourished but now clang hollowly against time.

  • An abacus — broken, still dangling — suggests a forgotten accounting of days, meals, hopes, debts.

  • Ghostly faces peer through the layers: one screaming in disbelief, one resigned to invisibility.

  • Throughout the assemblage, textures of rust, weathered wood, and rough cloth turn what might have been a refuge into a fragile relic.

  • The title, Fragile Keep Up, reads as both warning and dare —
a reminder that existence itself often feels cobbled together, swinging loosely on nails and memory.

The piece doesn’t mourn collapse.
It simply acknowledges it:
We live in homes like these.
We build lives like these.
We keep going anyway.
